The Plan

We want to be farmers

Hole diggin’ made easier

Ahhh, sweet. Check out what Santa (aka Tom and Linda) gave us .

auger

That’s right. It’s an auger. When it came time to order the grape vines, I suggested that 50 didn’t feel quite right, so we ordered 100. That means we will need to dig 100 holes rather quickly this spring. This tool will not only make this possible, but it might actually be fun. And the following year we will need to dig even more holes for the trellis system. Plus we want to plant more trees.  Dig dig dig. If only the ground wasn’t frozen now.

Seeds of change

Our first order has arrived! These are from Pinetree Garden Seeds. Their prices seemed pretty good and their selection was impressive, so we ordered a bunch. Can’t wait to start some, but it’s a little early yet.

Sledding

Alan tried sledding down a hill with Jake. We both knew Jake wouldn’t stay on the sled. Jake jumped off and bit Alan in the shin and then Alan scolded him. Couldn’t capture that shot.

Pheasants, big ones

This came as a bit of a surprise. Bird food is bird food, I suppose.

Another ice storm

It’s crunchy outside. There is a layer of ice, then slush, then ice and then snow. More photos of the ice are on Flickr to the right.

I heard back from a vineyard/nursery. They say they still have some Foch left. We are thinking of starting with just 50 vines. Hope that’s a good plan.
